Whitefield Academy understands that families with homeschool students have unique needs. Our desire is to partner with parents in providing the best education opportunities for their students. Our Alternative Education Program offers homeschooling families a structured in-school environment to help parents maximize the benefits of a homeschool education. The program provides parents the opportunity to have their students participate in learning alongside Whitefield students.
Elementary students can choose to join one or more of the special area classes. Students can participate in computer, music, art, Spanish or PE classes. These classes are offered once a week at scheduled times. Grades 3-5 may join elementary choir. Fourth and Fifth grade students may participate in band or orchestra.
COST: $300 per class / per semester
Middle School students may select to participate in any of our regularly scheduled academic courses; including band, orchestra and choir.
COST: $400 per course / per semester
High School students have the opportunity to participate in any regularly scheduled academic course. Students will complete all course work according to the requirements outlined in the course syllabus and or by the teacher. Please note, course offerings are subject to change.
Quarterly reports will be given to the parents. Alternative Education Program students may also take the Standardized Achievement Test in the spring of the year.
A fee of $100 will be assessed for this testing.
Students will be eligible to play on elementary and middle school sports teams (some are intramural teams). Sports at the varsity level are not available due to state regulations. Students playing on a team will be required to adhere to the same local and state regulations required of Whitefield students. This includes having a sports physical and paying a $50.00 athletic fee per student, per sport (an additional team fee may be required for some sports). These fees are in addition to the program application fee.
HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

An application will need to be completed and returned ($100 application fee required) to the Admission Office. Additional forms (medical) and or fees may be required. These are solely dependent upon course selection.
Please note, all participating students in Whitefield Academy’s Alternative Education Program for homeschool families qualify for free application fee when choosing to enroll as a full-time student at Whitefield Academy.
Preferably, applications should be submitted a week prior to the start of school. This allows us to plan for class size, order the appropriate resources and to secure your students place in the class.
Students will be required to wear a school uniform attending classes or school sponsored activities.
A student handbook will be given to each family so that parents and students can be aware of all school policies. Students will be expected to be prompt in attendance and in completion of their work. Students who repeatedly violate school policies or disrupt classes may be asked to leave the program.
A students’ acceptance into the program permits them to various resources at Whitefield Academy. The student will have access to the media center to do research, check out books, and participate in our Accelerated Reader program ($10.00 fee associated with the Accelerated Reader program).
If a student is struggling in any academic course a list of independent tutors that can provide temporary or long-term assistance will be provided.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips at their grade level. Parents could be asked to assist in field trip and an additional cost could be required.
